James: Let me augment my previous statement: About 45% of the energy of sunlight is PAR, with 30% max that can be converted into chemical energy in photosynthesis (this is what my work measures, so as to uncouple the photochemical energy conversion efficiency from the efficiency of product development), with 12-13% of the total energy of sunlight that can be converted to hydrogen and 8-10% that can be converted to biomass. These are theoretical maxima, with actual efficiencies being substantially lower. Regards, Tasios Melis
